I made this post to point out the Doctor Who homage in the opening and closing ceremony.

The first image is the orchestra at the beginning of the Opening Ceremony if you notice the colourful converse they were chosen because of David Tennant’s regeneration.

The same regeneration goes for the next image, apparently every audience member was given a pair of retro 3D glasses just like The Doctor had at the Battle of Canary Wharf.

And the third image is from the closing ceremony where the Olympic Game Makers were dressed smartly and similarly to the TARDIS itself, dark blue with a black band on the bowler hat and a light bulb on top it seems highly unlikely to be a coincidence.

And of course not forgetting the few seconds of TARDIS noise playing during the dancing scene I feel there were a few moments of homage to Doctor Who’s contribution to British Media as a whole.

Whovians: You know who has to carry the Olympic Torch and light up the fire?
BBC: Hey, wait a second, you kno-
Whovians: You know who has to do it
BBC: Listen, that was just an episode-
Whovians: You know who.
BBC: It's just fiction.
Whovians: You know who.
BBC: But this series is not that important as-
Whovians: You know.
BBC: But-
Whovians: Or the world will explode
BBC: ...What?
Whovians: It's time law BBC.
BBC: ...
Whovians: It's the law of the universe.
BBC: ....
Whovians: There will be a crack in time.
BBC: I think you take this a bit too seriou-
Whovians: The Doctor will come
BBC: But David hasn't even got time for this, we asked-
Whovians: It's written in history.
BBC: But the Queen-
Whovians: Will not be amused.
